Third season of the series Tokyo Ghoul: Re (part 1) continues two years after the events in Tokyo Ghoul √A and began airing April 3, 2018. The final season of the series Tokyo Ghoul: Re (part 2) began airing October 9, 2018. Tokyo Ghoul:Re is available on Netflix to stream right now.

Tokyo Ghoul is set in an alternate reality where Ghouls live amongst the humans. Ghouls are creatures that look like normal humans but have some supernatural abilities. These supernatural abilities include increased strength, regenerative (extraordinary healing) ability and Kagune (Japanese: 赫子). Kagune is an ability in which a ghoul can manifest at least one extra limb of sorts to use in combat. Every Ghoul has its own special Kagune which he or she can use to battle in a fight. Ghouls loath regular human food and can only eat human flesh ( 1 human body can keep a ghoul from starving for a month) or coffee. The notable difference in the appearance of a ghoul is that when they get hungry or angry their eyes turn black and red. They try to remain hidden in secrecy as human authorities are working to lock them up or kill them.

The story revolves around a young man Ken Kaneki, who was seduced by a ghoul named Rize Kamishiro who wanted to consume his flesh. Because of a freakish accident, Ken Kaneki survives and Rize Kamishiro dies. Ken Kaneki is in critical state after this event and to save his life the doctor transplants Rize’s organs into Kaneki’s body. This turns Kaneki into a Ghoul (a halfbreed only one of his eyes turns red). Kaneki is conflicted because he now needs human flesh to survive. Ghouls at the local coffee shop “Anteiku” offer him to take him in and help him with his struggles. The Ghouls are at war with the Humans and so every ghoul keeps his identity hidden. For that purpose, Ghouls wear custom masks to keep their faces hidden from the authorities. Kaneki is now right in the centre of the war between Ghouls and Humans.

Trying to keep this as spoiler-free as possible, the series has great dialogues, action sequences and great character backstories which are explained in a great way. If you want horror action and a great story this is one of the best animes you can go binge-watch right now as it is has ended.
