HBO Green-Lits Game Of Thrones Prequel House of the Dragon
Game of Thrones TV series was a huge success and a great show even with its controversial last season. HBO has given the go-ahead to write the story for the prequel to the Game of Thrones. “House of the Dragon” will be the title of that prequel. HBO announced it on an event on Tuesday during the announcement of HBO Max streaming service and on social media the next day.
On the official twitter of Game of Thrones it says:
The series is co-created by @GRRMSpeaking
and Ryan Condal. Miguel Sapochnik will partner with Condal as showrunner and will direct the pilot and additional episodes. Condal will be writing the series.
House of the Dragon
The show is going to take place around 300 years prior to the events in the game of thrones. The series will look to follow the politics of that era between the different houses. It will mainly follow the ruling house of that era. The Targaryens were the ruling house at that time.
HBO had another prequel planned with Naomi Watts leading it. But the pilot of the show did not agree with the producers and the critics. This prequel named Age of Heroes was set 1000 years ago when the white walkers were first created. The show has now been cancelled and replaced with House of the Dragon.
House of the Dragon will be based on the book The fire and blood. HBO has not yet revealed when they are going to release the show. What we do know is that the show will have 10 episodes in its first season. It will most likely be aired on HBO Max.
